Learning the Art of Peace
Many of us long for peace but wonder what difference we can make in a world
that only knows war. This sermon explores the peace-making work of
some fascinating Unitarian Universalist women whose stories can empower
our own efforts to make peace possible.
Investing for Justice
The way we use money leaves a mark
on our communities and the ecosystem. We
may not think about it often, but our financial transactions have an effect
on the interdependent web of existence of which we are a part. The choices
we make and the actions we take about money constitute our economic footprint. This
sermon explores ways we can align our use of money with our values and
put our money to work for justice.
Ending Poverty: Step by Step
In this economically divided
world, how is it possible to work for greater economic justice for people
living in poverty? This sermon explores
ways Unitarian Universalists are putting their money to work to establish
village banks around the world and invest in community development at home. These
grassroots strategies for ending poverty work--and provide hope and a positive
future for all those involved.
Called to Community
The community ministries that
are currently emerging within Unitarian Universalism have the potential
to vastly expand the impact of our movement. What
do we need to do to support and develop these new ministries in their
efforts to bring healing and justice to the world?
Opening Channels for Streams of Love
This sermon explores
the implications of marriage equality as a way to make
love more visible and active in the world, including a report on
legal same sex marriages in Massachusetts. After all, isn't love what
we all need?
Women in Transcendentalism: Crucible of Social Change
This sermon explores the lives, ideas, and lasting influence
of women who participated in the primarily male, idealistic world of
Transcendentalism, particularly Margaret Fuller and Elizabeth Peabody.
